lineaIntroduction
The Immunohistochemistry and Image Analysis Laboratory, which is integrated in the IdiPAZ research support platform, was established with the following objectives: Cover and improve the technical and scientific expectations of the Institute researchers, thereby meeting the priority objectives of IdiPAZ, which are the promotion of translational biomedical research and innovation, synergies, the efficient use of facilities and the participation of researchers in training programmes.
The Immunohistochemistry and Image Analysis Laboratory offers an extensive variety of techniques that range from routine histological techniques to immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent techniques in cells, whole organs and tissues, either frozen, fresh or embedded in paraffin. The Laboratory also offers a powerful image analysis platform. The laboratory is currently fully operational and has the capacity to support researchers primarily from IdiPAZ, although we have also opened the use of our equipment and techniques to groups outside the Institute.
The objectives are encompassed in the continuation and improvement of the portfolio
of techniques and facilities available to date. The objectives are based on technical quality and innovation criteria to improve the laboratory’s facilities and the promotion of the use and interest in performing immunohistochemical and histoenzymological techniques in research projects by IdiPAZ groups. The aim is to achieve a higher quality and level of results and thereby have greater impact and dissemination of scientific articles.
1. Continue and improve the services offered: expansion of the portfolio of techniques, implementation of the computerised protocols, scientific and technical advising, manage the collaboration with other IdiPAZ departments for the common use of various equipment, management of purchases and control of the distribution of consumables common to immunohistochemical techniques and management of laboratory residue.
2. Supervision and training of personnel recently incorporated to the Institute in the best practices of the Laboratory of Immunohistochemistry and Image Analysis.
3. Training of technicians and researchers through participation in mentoring programmes for students of the Community of Madrid, Universidad Autónoma, Universidad Complutense and La Paz University Hospital.
4. Facilitate the collaboration with groups outside IdiPAZ as a result of the recognition of the quality and iversity of techniques offered in the Laboratory of mmunohistochemistry and Image Analysis.
